Michelle Jernigan, Phil Ponder, Vencen Horsley
Vote Brasher and keep District 60 Blue | Early Voting begins TOMORROW
The Tennessee Democratic Primary for House District 60 is one of the most watched races in the state. Rep. Darren Jernigan is retiring, and the supermajority is salivating for this seat. They tried to unseat Rep. Jernigan 5/6 terms. This year House Speaker Cameron Sexton is putting up one of his own, his former assistant Chad Bobo, to try and recolor our community red.
I am honored and humbled to have the support of so many District 60 residents like Michelle Jernigan, Vencen Horsley (a leader of the Nashville sit-ins), Phil Ponder (former District 12 Metro Councilman & renowned artist), all 4 Democratic Metro Council Members who represent areas of District 60 — Erin Evans, Russ Bradford, Jordan Huffman, and Jeff Gregg, as well as many others. But if we are going to keep District Blue 🔵, I NEED your vote, too. Early Voting begins tomorrow.
🗳️Early Voting: TOMORROW Friday, July 12th - Saturday, July 27th.
⭐️Election Day: Thursday, August 1st.
This is one of the most important races in the state. Everyone is watching and every single, solitary vote counts.
Why you should vote early instead of on Election Day:
📍ANY LOCATION: During Early Voting, you can vote at any of Davidson County’s 12 Early Voting sites. On Election Day, you have to vote at your designated polling place.
Resident Pro Tip: The 📗 Hermitage Library is likely your most convenient polling place if you live in District 60. Early Voting locations will open Monday - Saturday at 8:00 a.m. and close at:
Monday & Friday: 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday & Thursday: 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday & Saturday: 4:30 p.m.
Sunday: CLOSED
⏰SHORTER WAIT TIMES & LINES: Why wait in line if you don’t have to? Early voting lines and wait times are shorter than on Election Day.
🥐BONUS: Flour Your Dreams Bakery is offering a discount to anyone who shows their “I Voted” sticker during Early Voting. It doesn’t matter who you vote for, but I promise bread tastes better when you vote Brasher 😂❤️.
Here’s a refresher on who I am, where I stand, and who stands with me:
👨👩👧👧 About: Who I am
My wife Kelsey and I are raising our one (soon to be two in September) daughters here in Hermitage. We want them to grow up in a Tennessee that fights for them instead of attacks them.
I’ve been working hard on the local level to make our community better, and I will continue to, but if we are to get things done here in Hermitage, Old Hickory, Donelson, and Nashville, we must have a strong voice in the state house.
Community Involvement:
Donelson-Hermitage Neighborhood Alliance (President)
Metro Nashville Participatory Budgeting Steering Committee (Member)
Metro Nashville Health and Educational Facilities Board (Member)
Donelson Hermitage Chamber of Commerce (Member)
Davidson County Young Democrats (Member)
📝 ISSUES: Where I stand
🍎EDUCATION: I come from a family of educators. My mother taught in Tennessee’s public schools for 40 years before retiring this year. My brother followed in her footsteps and has taught for the last 14 years. I am also a student of Tennessee’s public schools. I attended Decatur County Schools K-12, and then UT Martin. I am a parent of two future public school students. Needless to say, I care about public education like I care about my family. I will fight for…
Teacher Pay Raises
More Student Funding
Public Tax Dollars to Stay in Public Schools (NO VOUCHERS)
🦺 SAFETY: As the father of one, soon-to-be two, daughters I don’t want to worry when I drop them off at school. I will fight for…
Safe Gun Storage
Expanded Background Checks
More Mental Health Funding
🏥 HEALTHCARE: In 2021, my wife miscarried her first pregnancy. She, like many women, was prescribed mifepristone (the abortion pill). In 2022, we welcomed our daughter Millie. We are expecting our second child in early September. Our family has worried about the baby and Kelsey (if something were to happen) for the last 8 months. People say Tennessee has exceptions — we do — but exceptions don’t work. No woman in Tennessee has qualified for the life of the mother exception. I don’t want anyone to live in a state where they can’t receive the healthcare they need or choose. I will fight for…
Reproductive Rights
Contraception and IVF Protections
Medicaid Expansion
🚧INFRASTRUCTURE: In order to build a better Tennessee, we need to literally build a better Tennessee. I will fight for…
Funding to Repair Potholes
Funding to Widen Central Pike
State Cooperation and Support of Mayor O’Connell’s Public Transit Referendum
🏠HOMELESSNESS: Homelessness is not a crime, and it shouldn’t be treated like one. I will fight for…
Mental Health and Substance Abuse Intervention Funding
Workforce Development Programs
Increased Transitional Housing

❤️ How to help us (aside from voting)
📧Forward this Email to Your Friends:
Make sure they know what’s at stake, who, where, and when to vote.
🪧 Yard Sign:
Show your support for Team Tyler with a yard sign. It may sound silly, but signs say a lot. They tell the people you’re voting for team Tyler and that you want a Tennessee that fights for families instead of attacks them. Don’t worry, yard signs don’t cost anything. Just fill out the form, and we’ll be in touch.
🚪Knock Doors:
Political campaigns are won at the front door. Canvass with Team Tyler. Ask voters what issues matter most them, and tell them why they should vote Tyler Brasher for TN House District 60.
